Motel CCTV & WiFi: Securing Multi-Building Properties

The Problem

Motels in regional NSW face a specific set of security and connectivity challenges. Spread-out buildings mean long cable runs. Outdoor carparks need weather-rated cameras with night vision. Guests expect reliable WiFi. Managers need to see what's happening from their phone, not sitting in a back office watching a monitor. Most of the properties we've worked on had either no CCTV at all, or old analogue systems with grainy footage that was useless for identifying anyone. Several had complaints from guests about WiFi that didn't work past the reception building.

The Solution

Working from our base in Dubbo, we've developed a repeatable approach for motel properties across the Central West that covers both security and connectivity:

• CCTV: IP cameras rated for outdoor use covering carparks, perimeters, guest entry points, and reception. Night vision across all exterior cameras. NVR with 30+ days recording and remote viewing via app.
• WiFi: Ubiquiti UniFi access points positioned to cover every building. Separate networks for guests and management. Central controller for easy management.
• Cabling: Structured Cat6 runs between buildings, weatherproofed conduit for outdoor sections. Clean cable paths that don't ruin the look of the property.
• Intercom & Access: Video intercom at reception for after-hours check-in. Lock upgrades where required.
